I work one-on-one with children who are 5 years and up in individual sessions. Depending on the age of the child, parents are sometimes encouraged to attend therapy sessions to help facilitate participation and a sense of safety for their child.
At the moment, I am not currently accepting any more children, teen youth and family clients that are navigating separation/divorce or court involved matters.
Yes I do work with couples.
Pease Note: I am not currently accepting new couples or clients who are working on navigating 'co-parenting' while arranging separation/divorce/custody agreements.
As a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), I provide receipts that you can submit to most extended health benefit plans for reimbursement. Please contact your provider to confirm the details about your coverage. In Ontario, psychotherapy is not currently covered under OHIP.
I offer online and in person psychotherapy and art therapy sessions to individuals and caregivers. I also offer group therapy and workshops online and in person.
Individual sessions are $150 (per 50 minute session) whether online or in person.
Group sessions (couples, families) are $200 (per 50 minute session) online or in person.
Please note: To ensure more equitable and sustainable access to therapeutic services, a number of subsidized slots are available each month. In these subsidized time slots, during the initial session the therapist and client will discuss and mutually determine a price for follow up psychotherapy or art therapy sessions.
Yes.
Sessions for individuals and caregivers are currently available online or in person.
Please note: In-person sessions are available on limited dates/times.
Location: Leaside Therapy Centre 1395 Bayview Ave., Toronto, Ontario
In an online or in person psychotherapy session, we often:
-Slowly arrive & share about your concerns & hopes for the session
-Engage in a mindfulness exercise to ground
-Explore your thoughts and feelings verbally with therapeutic support
-Develop a plan (strategies/practices/supports) for going forward & close.
-Still the mind & ground the body by closing with a mindful practice
In an online or in person art therapy session we often:
-Slowly arrive & share about your concerns & hopes for the session
-Explore & process thoughts & feelings non-verbally through creative process
-Express and share what your piece has revealed to you
-Develop a plan (strategies/practices/supports) for going forward & close
-Still the mind & ground the body by closing with a mindful practice
No art experience needed. Art making is used within art therapy sessions as a way to explore and express emotions and ideas. We focus on the experience and process versus focusing on creating a specific outcome or product.
Read about art therapy and psychotherapy here. They are both paths to self-discovery, self-understanding and healing, see which one calls to you.
Both psychotherapy and art therapy practices are evidence-based and client led meaning I meet you where you are at and together we create a therapeutic plan that supports you and your process.
In my initial session, whether it be with art therapy or psychotherapy, we discuss what is involved in working together, any hopes or goals you may have, and confirm which path is most suited for you. It can change during the course of our therapeutic journey and even draw on both approaches, if/when appropriate, to ensure that you are supported most fully every step along the way.
Determining the 'fit' and the best timing for group therapy varies from client to client. This decision is often made in one-on-one therapy where, together, we carefully consider: the nature of the challenges being navigated; your preference, comfort level and readiness to share personal information in a group context; and discuss the risks and the benefits for the stage you are at in your personal therapeutic journey.
